Sawfa Privacy Policy
In short: when you save a link, your phone loads that page and the pictures it points to, so those sites see your IP address, as they would if you opened the page in a browser. That is the only thing Sawfa sends anywhere. Sawfa has no account, no server, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Everything you save stays on your phone, we never receive it, and it is not backed up, so uninstalling Sawfa deletes it for good. We do not sell or share your data.

1. Who we are
Sawfa is an app that saves the links you share to it and reminds you until you open or clear them. It is the Android app and the website https://sawfa.abutir.com. “Sawfa” and “we” mean Abutir (Hatim Abu Tir), the developer in Jordan who makes Sawfa. Contact us at sawfa@abutir.com.
Sawfa keeps what you save on your phone and never sends it to us, so we do not receive or hold it. We are responsible (the controller) for the little personal data we do receive: what you send us by email, and the requests your browser makes to the website.
2. What we collect
Sawfa has no accounts. It does not ask for your name, email address or phone number, and we do not receive anything you save.
- On your phone only: for each link you save: the link, where it redirects to, the page title, a small copy of the page’s picture (if it has one), the site icon, the source name (for example “YouTube”), the app you shared it from, when you saved it, its state (Pending, Opened or Cleared), how many reminders were sent and when the next one is due. Your settings, such as the first reminder delay, quiet hours and re-send spacing, are stored too. All of this stays in Sawfa’s private storage on your phone and is never sent to us.
- Installed apps: Sawfa checks whether apps for a fixed list of known sources (such as YouTube or Instagram) are installed, to show their icon and open links in them. It cannot see the other apps on your phone. The check happens on your phone and its result is never sent anywhere.
- Messages: if you email us, your email address and what you write.
- Website: when you visit the website, Cloudflare, which hosts it, receives your IP address and request details, as with any website (section 4).
Sawfa collects no usage data, crash reports, advertising ID, location, contacts or other device identifiers.
3. Why we use it
Sawfa uses what you save, on your phone, only to show your links with their title and picture, open them and remind you about them. That is the app you asked for (our contract with you).
We use your emails to answer you and handle any follow-up, and website request data to deliver the website and protect it from abuse (our legitimate interest).
Sawfa has no ads, analytics or tracking, so nothing in it asks for your consent beyond the Android permissions you choose to give (section 5).
We do not sell or share your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not profile you.
4. Who we share it with
We do not share what you save with anyone, because we never receive it. We disclose the little data we hold (your emails) only when the law requires it. Sawfa itself contacts only these:
The sites of the links you save. Soon after you save a link, and before you open it, your phone contacts the website of the link, and any site it redirects through (for example a short-link service), to find the final address, title, picture and site name. It also loads that page’s picture and icon from the servers the page itself names; these can belong to another company, such as a content delivery network. These sites receive what every web request includes: your IP address, a generic app name (User-Agent), the time and the address being loaded. Sawfa sends them no cookies, no device identifiers and no address of a page you came from (Referer). Each picture and icon is downloaded once and kept on your phone; showing it in the app or in a reminder does not contact any site again. You choose these sites by saving the link; they are run by others, and their own privacy policies apply.
Opening a link. When you open a saved link, Sawfa hands it to the matching app or to your browser. From then on, that app’s or site’s terms and privacy policy apply.
Website hosting (Cloudflare). Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the website on Cloudflare Pages. It processes your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time to deliver and protect the site, under its own privacy policy (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/). We do not turn on request logging and keep no copy of this data. The website has no analytics and no third-party scripts.
Email. If you email us, our email provider carries and stores your message so we can read and answer it.
5. Cookies, consent and local storage
Sawfa stores your saved links, their pictures and icons, and your settings in its private storage on your phone. These are needed for the app to work and need no consent. Sawfa uses no cookies, advertising ID or analytics storage.
Sawfa asks Android for these, and you can change each one in Android settings at any time:
- Notifications: to remind you of saved links. On Android 13 and later, Android asks you first.
- Alarms & reminders (optional, Android 12 and later): if you allow it, reminders arrive on time even when your phone is idle. If you do not, reminders still come, but may be later. Sawfa can also open your phone’s battery settings for you; that needs no permission.
- Start-up: to restore your reminders after your phone restarts.
Reminders can show a link’s title and picture. On the lock screen, what a reminder shows follows your phone’s setting for showing sensitive notification content.
Sawfa turns off Android backup and device-to-device transfer, so your data is not copied to your Google account or to a new phone.
The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts, so it shows no cookie banner.
6. How long we keep data
- Pending links: on your phone until you open, clear or delete them.
- Opened and cleared links: kept in History, with their pictures and icons, for 30 days, then removed automatically.
- Deleted links: a link and its picture and icon are removed as soon as the few seconds to undo the delete have passed. This is the same when you delete several links at once.
- Everything on your phone: uninstalling Sawfa, or clearing its storage in Android settings, removes it all. We hold no copy, so it cannot be restored.
- Website requests: processed by Cloudflare under its own policies; we keep none of them.
- Emails to us: for as long as we need them to answer you and handle any follow-up, or until you ask us to delete them.
7. Your rights
You can:
- See and delete what Sawfa keeps. Your saved links are in the Queue and History. You can delete any link, delete several at once, or remove everything by uninstalling Sawfa or clearing its storage in Android settings. Because we never receive what you save, we cannot see, export, correct or delete it for you; it stays under your control on your phone.
- Withdraw permissions for notifications and Alarms & reminders in Android settings at any time.
- Ask us about any data we may hold about you, such as your emails to us, and get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, or object to or restrict its use.
- Complain to a data protection authority, usually where you live or work.
- In California and other US states with privacy laws: we do not sell or share your personal information, do not use it for targeted advertising, and will not treat you differently for using your rights.
For any request, write to us at sawfa@abutir.com. We answer within one month.
8. International transfers
What you save never leaves your phone for us. When Sawfa loads a link, your phone connects to that site wherever it is in the world; you choose it by saving the link.
Cloudflare may process website request data outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. We are in Jordan, so an email you send us is received and read there, and our email provider may store it in another country.
9. Security
Sawfa keeps your data in its private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot read, and no copy leaves your phone. A screen lock on your phone protects your saved links too. The website is served over an encrypted connection. If a breach ever affects data we hold, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Children
Sawfa is for people aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. Sawfa has no accounts, does not ask your age and sends us nothing. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, for example by email, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
When we update this policy we change the date above, and we note important changes in the app’s release notes. Sawfa cannot start sending data anywhere without a new version of the app, and we will update this policy before such a version is released.
